With a special focus on contemporary art and its social context, this program conceptualizes the artist-educator as cultural worker, intellectual, and activist. Our classes combine a strong foundation in critical pedagogy with a solid grounding in practice, including experience teaching in NYU Visionary Studio with high school students and two student teaching placements in elementary and secondary schools, as well as developing a well-considered interdisciplinary, research based art practice.
